Little Gym

We got to go back to The Little Gym again today. So Much Fun!!! Jimmy took NO time to warm up this time. As a matter of fact, I took him through the gym to the bathroom to change his diaper during the class before our and he took off headed toward the kids. He did still stay with me during the class part instead of running off and playing on the equipment. I'm glad he has the attention span to participate in the class. He didn't do as much climbing today. I think his favorite activity was running and screaming (which they're fine with at The Little Gym.) He really had a good time! Two friends from church came with us - Kingston and Pauly. They, of course, just saw each other in passing. Jimmy ran like a wild man from the moment we entered the gym.

Camping

Recognize this? Anyone, Anyone?
Us either. 5 minutes into our camping trip, Jimmy said, "Sit in grass?" I told him, sure. His butt did not even hit the ground, when he started squirming and squacking a little. I expected to find a leg covered in ants that were just begining to sting him, but we couldn't find anything on him. Then we noticed his leg. It looked like 6 or 7 large puffed up mosquito bites. I panicked and took him up to the house to see what Uncle Steve thought (he has lots First Aid training). By the time I got there, they'd all kind of run together to make one big swollen area the size of a half-dollar. We both agreed - ice, Benadryl, and keep a close eye on him. Now, it looks really odd, but doesn't seem to bother him. I noticed last night, as he was kicking me in the face, that it was very hot. It is not so hot today. Other than that - we had a BLAST!!! We all went to bed at 9:00 and Jimmy finally fell asleep, (on Daddy's face,) at 11:00 after lots of head rubbies. Before falling asleep, he rolled, flopped, sat up, sang songs, squeeled, and shouted, "Train" when we heard one in the distance. He finally settled in horizontally, above our heads, wedged between the tent and the air mattress. Neither of us had any idea how he could keep going and going after no nap and all that fun!

Bike Ride

Here are Jimmy and I about to head out on our first bike ride with Daddy. It went better than I expected, but not yet great. Jimmy loved it. We kept asking, "Is this fun, Buddy?" and he kept saying, "Fun Buddy." Mommy's still a bit wobbly on the bike. (Who came up with that phrase, "It's just like riding a bicycle"? It's a TERRIBLE lie! I did figure out that I do better on the street. For some reason, the sidewalk makes me nervous and I swerve back and forth narrowly avoiding the grassy edges the entire time. With Jimmy, especially, I'm not wild about riding in the street, but I was much more comfortable. I'm still pretty impressed that he and I didn't take a spill! This weekend, when I took the bike around the block by myself, I had to put my feet down twice and I walked it around 2 of the 3 corners. I will get better and this will become more fun with a little practice. We didn't ride far last night, but man, my hips and thighs are burning this morning! My seat's too low for pedalling, but if I raise it, I can't put my feet down - which is more important than comfort, right now.

helmet

Jimmy loves his new bicycling helmet. James and I got each other bicycles for Mother's Day / Father's day. We were concerned that buying Jimmy a decent seat and a helmet would cost as much as a 3rd bicycle, but then NoNo reminded me that lots of people gave him birthday and Christmas money for precisely this sort of thing. So we got him a really cool ibert seat (google it!) and a very safe helmet that he loves. So, thank you to those of you who have given him money! (No, Uncle Zach, we didn't use his swingset money on this. He still has that money and I think we've found a good one at WalMart. We're going to buy it as soon as Daddy will have time to assemble it.) Jimmy's bike seat came in today, so we'll post pictures soon from our first bike ride. Should be really fun!!!

Dallas Arboretum

We went to the Dallas Arboretum with the Roanoke Mommies group on Wednesday. I put Jimmy in his Easter outfit, (thanks NoNo) and decided to take some really great, "I am 2" pictures.
Then it got hot, so I changed him into a T-shirt and shorts, (also, thanks NoNo). These pictures were awfully cute as well!

Last year, dyeing Easter eggs was about as much fun as watching paint dry. The only reaction Jimmy had, was right as Daddy took this picture.

This year, we had a BLAST! Jimmy helped a lot. He helped me count the tablespoon of vinegar, pour the water in, put the eggs in, and take the eggs out. He really seemed to have a good time.

More fun at the zoo

Jimmy and I went to the zoo with some new friends from our new church last week, (we sure do enjoy our zoo pass, Uncle Zach!) We were only there for a few hours, but it's a whole new experience, now, for Jimmy. He recognizes most of the animals and makes their noises at them. We had a really fun time!
